Wow, I can’t believe how DELICIOUS this drink is. It is JUST like eating apple pie, but it’s apple pie that you drink! I have to dock it one star though for one reason: 14 grams of fat per can. I know that’s probably why it tastes so good, but that’s a bit high. Still, it’s the best post-workout drink I’ve ever had. Amazing.

I have been a huge fan of the entire Met-Rx Big 100 line, and this was the only variety I had yet to try since I’m scared of sugar alcohols (!!). Nevertheless, being a connoisseur of apples, I had extremely high hopes for this flavor and decided to see if it’d go down all right. The bar was fairly sweet, crunchy, cinnamon-y, and pretty appetizing with the exception of one incongruent factor I felt made the bar unpalatable–those rubbery, gummy apple chunks. Each bite one squirmed its way into was ruined. Sure, I could have picked them out (probably will on the second half of the bar sitting in my desk drawer), but I paid good money for the thing! I’m glad I only bought one of this flavor, and likely won’t buy it again. Go for the Super Cookie Crunch if you want a treat. Oh and on the plus side the gram and a half of sugar alcohols in half the bar didn’t bug me if you’re sensitive, too.

This baffles me. They call it a “meal replacement” bar, but there’s enough sugar in these to make a big wedding cake. This isn’t a meal replacment bar. It’s an appetizer with 50 table spoons of sugar. So you get a little protein and enough sugar to ruin any health benefits.

These are very close to dessert. Possibly because they do not have the unsweetened cocoa like others in this group, so the small amount of sweetening is not competing with the bitterness of cocoa. All these high protein bars are not junk food so do not expect the sugary sweetness of non protein bars.

I’ve tried a lot of supplements and snacks to try to replace a meal… this is the best bet.

I’m a student on a budget. I worked out that if I buy these it’s about $2 a meal. That’s if I don’t buy a drink or something else with it. That’s 1- 2 bars for a day of classes, $4 bucks a day, c’mon, that’s A HUGE SAVINGS, even over cheapo fast food, and these are nutritious. Eat a good home meal (learn to cook guys, I did, saves money and tastes great, and it’s good for impressing the ladies) at least once a day, and you’re set.

The benefit of these is that they actually fill you up, not just with fiber as some brands that claim meal replacement do. Some meal replacement things are nutritionally lacking, they fill your belly but you’re technically starving cause your deficient in nutrients. These are very well made and nutritionally sound, especially for younger folks like me who need more protein in their diets, if you’re older this is still good, but you generally need less protein in your diet.

The taste is great too, a little sweet with some of their flavors, but overall not overpoweringly so like some brands. My favorite is the cookie dough one, it goes down the easiest too, feels like it digests the easiest as well.

Enjoy, this is a smart purchase.
